A compact collaboration of knowledge, eternal vigilance, skills, smartness and point of care attitude are the keywords to describe the branch "Anesthesiology".
An advancement in Anaesthesiology, be it a medical college, a corporate facility or even in allied branches like infertility units leads to expansion of the scope of surgical branches too .From the ages of the first public anesthesia demonstrator WTG Mortan to Dr Bhavani Shankar Kodali, anesthesiologists continue to persue new modes of administration, monitoring and even upgraded to reach till sensing and combating human awareness of subconscious state.
We at Chamarajnagar institute of medical sciences based at the natures hilly cradle of Chamarajnagar continuing the legacy
of department Anaesthesiology ,hereby welcome you all to the department and hence to our prestigious institute one of  its kind.

A District hospital catering nearly 4 taluks population needs with a single handed anaesthesiologist grew up to a transitional pro medical college hospital from the year 2014 in the same district hospital building. Currently the District medical college hospital has been built in an 5 floored new building at Yadapura having infrastructure with an equipped modular operation theatre,clean zones housing surgical Intensive care units, Multidisciplinary Intensive care units channeled to postoperative units and counselling corridors in the fourth floor.

  AIM:

  • To provide a comprehensive knowledge, practice and skills of life saving emergency and elective operative anesthesia procedures, intensive care management pain and palliative medicine.

  OBJECTIVES:

  1. To understand the roles of Anesthesiologist in the medical profession : • As a peri-operative physician • Intensivist • Pain specialist • Leader in crisis management • Emergency care services
  2. The evolution of Anaesthesiology as a modern specialty.
  3. Sensitize in a simulated environment, Basic and advanced Life Support in neonates,children and adults.
  4. Elicit and document an appropriate history pertaining to a preoperative anaesthetic evaluation.
  5. Acquire knowledge of the Principles and the practical aspects of conduct of General and regional anaesthesia.
  6. Non operating room anaesthesiologistsrole-NORA,Radiology suite requirements,Gastroenterology unit procedures.

  1. Low dose spinal anesthesia Inj. Ropivacaine Heavy with Inj Feantanyl vs Inj Ropivacaine Heavy With Inj Nalbuphine for day care perineal surgeries. 
  2. Study of severity of Covid 19 illness in 1st and 2nd wave of Covd in Chamarajanagar in correlation with the blood group and Rh Typing.
  3. To find the effective dose of epidural saline for epidural volume extension for elective lower limb orthopedic procedures.
  4. Incidence of PDPH with Midline vs paramedian approach for patients undergoing elective LSCS.
