Department of ENT

Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery Department         

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) at CIMS, is involved in the treatment of patients with ENT ailments and serving the people of the border district of Chamarajanagar.

The department is catering to the educational needs and providing training to Undergraduate and Post-graduate Medical Students.  

Goals:

  • Emphasis to be laid on training the students to be familiar with common ENT problems, making them competent enough to diagnose and treat routine ENT problems. Students are trained to be in a position to identify cases which require specialty care. Hearing assessment at the earliest and provide proper treatment and rehabilitation.
  • To develop institutional capacity for Ear, Nose, Throat care services by providing equipment, material and training personnel.
  • To provide tertiary health care services in the field of ENT.

Department Achievements:

  • Apart from teaching and clinical work, faculty of the department are involved in academics, research and support to the hospital.
  • Various diagnostic procedures such as Oto-microscopy, Diagnostic Nasal Endoscopy, Oto-endoscopy, Laryngoscopy, Pure tone audiometry, Impedance Audiometry, BERA are conducted at the Department
  • ENT Surgeries for the treatment of various diseases are being conducted by the Faculty, including Endoscopic Sinus Surgeries, Microscopic Ear Surgeries and Neck Surgeries.
  • Department has played a major role in screening and managing Covid-19 pandemic. The faculty members have played an essential role in Medical and surgical management of Mucormycosis patients during the pandemic.
  • Department is conducting regular screening programs for hearing impaired and implementing NPPCD activities.
  • Regular Neonatal hearing screening to achieve early identification and Rehabilitation of deafness.
  • Training of District level officers, PHC & CHC medical officers, Field workers, ASHA workers and School teachers about common ENT Disorders and management.
  • District level awareness program regarding Mucormycosis during Covid-19 pandemic.
  • The faculty members have been providing tele-consultation to patients on e-sanjeevini portal.
  • Speech therapy and Audiology services are being provided to the needy.
