Department of Pathology

Department of Pathology Chamarajanagar, envisions leading the developments in field of academic pathology. We are actively engaged in discovery, clinical application and innovation in study of diseases, to ensure patient safety and wellbeing. We are committed to dispersal of knowledge besides training the undergraduate students to achieve excellence of patient care. We provide round the clock laboratory services with state of art technologies and resources. We provide timely, accessible, accurate, reliable and quality diagnostic services for optimal patient care. We support health care providers for diagnosing and treating their patients. We provide the best student experience through research programs, interactive and innovative educational programs, integrated teaching programs for undergraduate, allied health sciences, paramedical, nursing, and postgraduate students.

BLOOD CENTRE AND TRANSFUSION MEDICINE

We provide services with state of art facilities as per drug and cosmetics act, India. It is equipped to collect and process whole blood and its components like packed red cells, random Platelets, fresh frozen plasma and cryoprecipitate. The immunohematology lab is fully automatized to do grouping and typing, cross matching and various specialized test to detect unknown antibodies. Each unit of blood is screened for various communicable diseases like HIV, HBV and HCV thereby ensuring a safe and quality blood supply for patients and families.

FACILITIES/SERVICES OFFERED

Our laboratory has high throughput analysers and instruments with qualified, trained staff and technicians.

HEMATOLOGY INVESTIGATIONS - CompleteBlood Count, Coagulation Profile, BloodGrouping, ESR, Peripheral Smear Reporting ,Bone Marrow Reporting.

CLINICAL PATHOLOGY-Urine routine

CYTOLOGY - Fluid Cytology (Ascitic, Pleural,Pericardial, Cerebrospinal Fluid), FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology), Pap Smear, Tzank Smear

HISTOPATHOLOGY INVESTIGATIONS – Surgical Biopsy, Forensic Biopsies, Special Stains, Review Reports, Frozen Section.

BLOOD BANK

Blood component- Collection, processing and storage. Blood grouping and cross matching-Transfusion transmitted infections screening for HIV, HBV, HCV, Syphilis and Malaria.Day care Services- Hemophilia
